Job description
CMM OperatorThis position is responsible for operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) to inspect manufactured parts and verify that dimensions and features meet engineering drawings, specifications, and quality requirements. Responsibilities include:Operate CMM equipment to inspect precision-machined componentsLoad and position parts correctly for inspectionRun existing CMM inspection programs and make basic program adjustments as neededRead and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and inspection requirementsMeasure dimensions, locations, profiles, and other critical featuresRecord and document inspection results accuratelyIdentify and report dimensional or quality issuesWork with manufacturing personnel to resolve inspection discrepanciesMaintain CMM equipment, fixtures, probes, and inspection areasFollow established quality procedures and safety requirementsAssist with first piece, in-process, and final inspectionsMaintain accurate inspection records and documentationOther duties as assigned by ManagerPrincipal Contacts Inside/Outside the Company:This position interacts with the Quality Manager or Quality Supervisor and manufacturing personnel.Competency or Position Requirements:Ability to read engineering drawings and understand basic GD&TBasic knowledge of precision measuring equipmentGood math and measurement skillsAttention to detail and ability to accurately document resultsAbility to work independently and as part of a manufacturing teamEducation and/or Experience:High School Diploma or equivalentPrevious CMM or quality inspection experience preferredExperience with CMM software such as PC-DMIS, Zeiss Calypso, or similar preferredExperience with micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other inspection equipment preferredEquipment Used:This position uses Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) and CMM software, fixtures, probes, micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other precision measuring equipment.Working and Physical Conditions:This position will work in a manufacturing environment and requires the ability to stand, walk, and lift/move inspection fixtures and parts.
