Job description

CMM ProgrammerCMM programmers program and operate coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to perform inspections on machined aerospace parts. This role is required to document specific information regarding approvals and non-conforming parts and may be involved in problem-solving to identify rework requirements. The CMM team also participates in the development and maintenance of our quality system and associated policies, procedures, and work processes to ensure that Company, regulatory, customer, and industry requirements are fulfilled. Personnel may also provide quality and/or manufacturing process training for manufacturing personnel.Essential FunctionsTo accomplish this job, an individual must be able to perform each essential function. Reasonable accommodations may be made to help enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Programs and operates a CMM(s); revises programs to maximize effectiveness and efficiencyInvestigates and collaborates with cross-functional team members to resolve manufacturing-related non-conformances or other concernsInitiates nonconformance records and disposition of parts not meeting requirementsCompletes First Article Inspections to AS9102 and company/contractual requirementsContinually strives to improve inspection effectiveness and efficiency by recommending and supporting the implementation of process improvementsCommunicates effectively and professionally with internal and external personnel to identify root causes, troubleshoot and address errors and trends, and negotiate the resolution of non-conforming parts and necessary rework or reinspectionMay perform other inspections using precision measurement instruments such as mics, calipers, and gaugesCompletes other duties as requiredRegular attendance on-site at the workplace is requiredWork ExperienceFive to ten years of technical machining, programming, or similar experience, of which at least two to three years should be in quality assurance; aerospace industry experience highly preferredThree years of CMM programming experience in PC-DMISOther Required Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of customer and industry standards and quality system requirements including AS9100, FAA requirements is desiredKnowledge of problem-solving techniques, (i.e. Statistical Quality Control/Statistical Process-Control, etc.)Experience in conducting Lean Manufacturing exercises and Six Sigma projects preferredDemonstrated accuracy in reading and interpreting blueprints, planning and engineering documents, quality standards, customer specifications, and other technical design standardsAdvanced mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply, and divide using fractions and decimal equivalents)Experience accurately reading precision measuring instrumentation including mics, calipers, height gauges, tape measures, and other similar devicesAbility to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing (English)Basic skills using Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, Word; ERP experience is advantageousEducationHigh school diplomas/GED requiredFour-year technical degree or equivalent education/experience preferredPhysical Demands and Work EnvironmentTo perform the essential functions of the role, employees must be able to perform the following activities with or without reasonable accommodations:Regularly stand and walk throughout the facility, including all buildings and the manufacturing areasPeriodically lift, carry (short distances), and push/pull up to 100 pounds using cranes or other material handling equipment and/or peer assistanceRegularly climb steps, stairs, or laddersOccasionally bend, crawl, stoop, squat, or kneelConstantly communicate verbally and in writing (English) using a phone, texts, or other messagingVisual acuity to accurately read mics, calipers, or other precision measuring instruments; accurately distinguish colorsWorking Conditions Work is performed in a manufacturing shop environment where working conditions may vary significantly; the employee will be exposed to:Excessive noise (hearing protection required)Dust, smoke, fumes/vapors (occasionally)Extreme temperatures (occasionally)Hazardous equipment including forklifts, hand tools, cranes or other lifting devices, and other equipment used in a machine shop environmentThe use of PPE, including hearing protection, eye and hand protection, and the use of safety footwear may be required.
