Job description
Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA)Under the direction of licensed nursing personnel, performs direct and indirect designated resident care within the scope of practice as defined by the certification. The Certified Nurse Assistant must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development across the life span. Possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to age-specific needs. Responsible for meeting residents' Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) needs as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures within a safe and comfortable environment. Assists with hygiene, grooming, dressing, incontinence/catheter care, elimination/toileting needs, turning/positioning, skin care, etc. Ensures documentation is completed per protocol. Maintains a safe environment and ensures residents' safety as outlined in the plan of care. Responds to call lights and alarms promptly and performs fall prevention measures. Assists in meeting residents' nutritional needs as outlined in the plan of care. Delivers meals, prepares trays, and accommodates feeding and dietary preferences. Provides rehabilitative needs as outlined in the plan of care, including range of motion, ambulation, transfers, and proper body alignment. Reports residents' rights, refusals, and concerns to the Charge Nurse in a timely manner. Identifies and reports changes in residents' physical, emotional, and psychosocial status to the Charge Nurse promptly.
