Job description
Hospice AideThis is a floating position that will cover both AM/PM shifts for AMOREM's patient care units in Valdese and Hudson.To assist the nurse in managing basic level skills in the overall delivery of patient and family holistic care at the bedside and to promote a positive end of life experience. Focusing on respect, accountability, integrity, stewardship and excellence throughout the experience.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Follow all infection control proceduresAdminister daily care in an efficient safe manner:AM and PM careAssist with ambulationAssist with diets/special nourishmentsChange bed linens as neededPerform duties safely and accurately, documenting results appropriately as directed by RN:Skin careCollect specimensIntake and outputVital signsEnemasObserve patient's condition and report changes or concerns to the RN timelyAssist in admission, transfer and discharge of patientsAnswer call lights promptly by regulatory standardAssist other staff in completing their assignments as requestedEnsure all safety measures are in place per plan of careAssure patient/facility laundry is appropriately cleaned and stockedAssist with cleaning patient rooms, as needed per checklistOther duties as assigned by nurse, within scope of responsibility, as defined by the North Carolina Board of NursingKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:Knowledge of and commitment to the hospice philosophy of careAbility to work on an interdisciplinary teamAbility to work a flexible scheduleWillingness to work with patients/families regardless of race, color, creed, age or sexual orientationMinimum Qualifications:Education:High School diploma requiredGraduate of a Certified Assistant Training Program ILicensures & Certifications:Current listing on NC State RegistryCPR CertificationPhysical Demands:Visual acuity to read written documentation and computer tasksAbility to sit extended periods of time and perform administrative tasksAbility to stand, bend and lift an average of 30 poundsManual dexterity with the ability to manipulate office equipment and keyboard for extended periods of timeAbility to walk, squat, kneel, climb and balanceSpecial Requirements:Must have an automobile with required insurance coverage and state driver's licensePRN employees must complete one 12-hour shift in 90 days
