Job description
Horizontal Milling MachinistWe are seeking a skilled mid-level Horizontal Milling Machinist to set up and operate manual and/or CNC horizontal milling machines to produce quality precision parts. This role is ideal for a machinist with strong setup and troubleshooting skills who can work independently while supporting production, quality, and safety standards.ResponsibilitiesSet up and operate manual and/or CNC horizontal milling machinesInstall and align tooling, cutters, fixtures, and workpiecesSelect appropriate speeds, feeds, and cutting parametersPerform machining operations such as slotting, straddle milling, keyways, splines, and precision boringRead and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and basic GD&TInspect parts using precision measuring tools to verify dimensions and tolerancesMake adjustments to maintain part quality and efficiencyTroubleshoot routine machining, tooling, and setup issuesPerform routine preventive maintenance and keep machines clean and organizedComplete job documentation, travelers, and inspection recordsFollow all safety procedures and maintain a clean work areaRequired QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED required; technical training preferred5+ years of horizontal milling experienceAbility to perform independent setups and run jobs with minimal supervisionStrong blueprint reading skills and basic GD&T knowledgeExperience working with common machining materials (steel, aluminum, stainless, etc.)Proficiency with micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and indicatorsGood mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skillsPreferred ExperienceCNC horizontal milling experienceConversational control or basic G-code editingTool & die, aerospace, or precision manufacturing experienceExposure to ISO or similar quality systemsPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand for extended periodsAbility to lift up to 30 lbsManual dexterity and attention to detailComfortable working in a machine shop environmentProjects Incorporated is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate based on race, ancestry, color, religion, sex, age, marital status, sexual orientation, national origin, medical condition, disability, veteran status, gender identity, or any other basis protected by law.Drug-Free and Alcohol-Free WorkplaceIn compliance with the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988, Projects is committed to providing a safe, quality-oriented, and productive work environment.
