Algonquin Industries is seeking a skilled CNC Lathe Operator to join our precision machining team. In this role, you will operate CNC lathes to manufacture high-quality precision machined parts while maintaining quality control and safety standards. You will read blueprints, inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools, follow ISO 9001 quality management standards, and maintain efficient production workflows. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented CNC machinist looking to work in a fast-paced CNC machine shop environment.
Responsibilities
Operate CNC lathes and turning centers to produce precision machined components according to engineering specifications
Load raw materials into chucks or fixtures and prepare parts by deburring, cleaning, and prepping materials
Optimize spindle run time by inspecting parts, cleaning tool holders, and clearing previous setups while machines are running
Inspect parts against blueprints and technical drawings using micrometers, vernier calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, and other precision measuring equipment
Maintain quality assurance standards by strictly adhering to the company ISO 9001 quality management system, procedures, and work instructions
Execute emergency or routine machine shutdown procedures if machining processes fall outside optimal operating conditions
Report any quality control issues, tool wear, or technical discrepancies directly to the shift supervisor
Follow OSHA safety regulations, practice safe work habits, and keep work areas clean and orderly
Maintain production records, log output data, and ensure production cycle efficiency goals are consistently met or exceeded
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED certificate required
Experience operating CNC lathes, turning machines, or related computer numerical control equipment (Preferred)
Practical knowledge of machine shop measuring tools including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and height gauges
Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints, engineering drawings, and shop specifications
Familiarity with ISO 9001 QMS quality standards, quality inspection protocols, and OSHA workplace safety regulations
Strong mechanical aptitude, basic shop math skills, process improvement mindset, and close attention to detail
Excellent time management skills, work ethic, and ability to meet strict production deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and communicate clearly with supervisors and coworkers
Flexibility to work required shifts, overtime, and adapt to changing daily production schedules
