Joby Aviation Manufacturing Team MemberJoby Aviation is seeking a passionate individual to join our manufacturing team. This individual will participate in several aspects of our composite part CNC trimming operation. Collaborating with CNC programmers & engineers, you will be contributing to the entire process of CNC operation. Hands-on experience and a "get it done" attitude are very important. This position is rewarding, as the team members will promptly see their work integrated into the production process due to the fast pace of Joby Aviation.Shift Schedules:1st shift - Monday – Thursday: 7AM- 5:30PM2nd shift- Monday - Thursday: 5:30PM - 4:00AM3rd shift -Friday - Sunday: 6AM - 6:30PMResponsibilitiesSet up and operate 5 axis CNC Routers to trim composite aircraft parts.Provide feedback upstream on setup, machining strategy, order of operations, tool selection, speed/feed parameters, etc.Provide feedback on how to maintain and improve part qualityAssist team with developing best practices for the machining process focused on increased efficiency and productivityOrganize and manage multiple responsibilities with a high degree of efficiencyEstablish and continuously improve a well organized and safe environment for all workspacesDo a variety of supporting tasks that are needed to get the job doneRequired6+ months of machining experience or relevant courseworkBasic exposure to cutting tools for mills: flat, ball, & multi-fluted, end mills, drills.6+ months in a shop environment, preferably wood, plastic, & or metal machiningExperience with hand tools, ie. Drills, reamers, tap/die, files, precision pins, etcHS Diploma or GED EquivalentExperience working in fast-paced, time sensitive environmentsDemonstrated abilities following standardized work instructions, technical requirements, and executing standard processes.Able to use computers at an intermediate level Continuous standing, squatting, bending, pulling, twisting, and lifting throughout the workday.Lifting of 50 lbs. or less aided or unaided throughout the day.Must wear PPE when required.Have no known allergies to epoxies or other composites materials and able to become certified to wear a respirator.Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods.Must be able to stoop, bend, crawl, and being able to maneuver in tight spacesDesired1+ year of manufacturing experienceExperience with vacuum holding trim fixturesFamiliarity with composites (fiber glass or carbon fiber)Experience with large format, "gantry" style 5-axis CNC machinesFamiliarity with CNC machine controllersFamiliarity with g-codeExperience working in a regulated manufacturing environmentExperience in a high-volume production environment that relies on a well-defined process to achieve maximum efficiency.Familiarity with lean manufacturing or 5S environments.The target base pay for this position is $23-$37/hr.
