We design specialty innovations, smart instruments and devices, integrated ecosystems, and intelligent imaging to build a more connected, software-enabled operating room.

About the Role

KARL STORZ is seeking an experienced CNC Setup Machinist to join our manufacturing team. In this hands-on role, you will set up, operate, troubleshoot, and optimize CNC equipment, including lathes, mills, and Swiss-style machines, while producing high-quality components that support life-changing medical technologies.

Working in a fast-paced, regulated manufacturing environment, you'll be responsible for performing machine setups, editing CNC programs, inspecting parts to blueprint specifications, and ensuring products meet stringent quality standards. This position offers the opportunity to work with advanced machining technologies and exotic materials while contributing to the manufacture of precision medical device components.

If you're passionate about machining, continuous improvement, and producing quality work with precision and accuracy, we want to hear from you.

Shift: Monday-Friday, 3:30 PM-12:00 AM

What You'll Do

Set up and operate CNC lathes, mills, and Swiss-style machines according to setup sheets, layouts, and production requirements.

Edit CNC programs, make machine adjustments, and troubleshoot machining processes to ensure quality and efficiency.

Inspect machined components using blueprint specifications and record inspection data accurately.

Perform routine machine maintenance and basic Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities to support equipment reliability.

Work with a variety of materials, including stainless steel, nitinol, nickel alloys, and other exotic metals.

Participate in Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives, including root-cause analysis and process optimization efforts.

What You Bring

3-5+ years of CNC machining experience, including machine setup and operation.

Experience setting up CNC equipment based on setup sheets, layouts, or technical documentation.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and inspect components to print specifications.

Experience editing CNC programs and making process adjustments as needed.

Strong problem-solving skills related to CNC machining and equipment operation.

Medium to advanced computer skills and experience with production documentation.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Nice to Have

Experience machining medical device components.

Knowledge of GMP, FDA, ISO 13485, or ISO 9001 manufacturing requirements.

Experience working with nitinol, stainless steel, nickel alloys, or other exotic metals.

Prior experience supporting Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives.

What Will Make You Successful

A strong commitment to producing high-quality work with precision and consistency.

The ability to make sound decisions regarding machining processes, tooling, and production requirements.

Strong troubleshooting skills and a proactive approach to solving manufacturing challenges.

A willingness to learn new technologies, processes, and machining techniques.

Excellent organizational skills and the ability to maintain accurate production and quality records.

A collaborative mindset with the ability to communicate effectively with engineers, management, and production teams.

A commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Why KARL STORZ?

Join KARL STORZ and be part of a team creating medical innovations that truly make a difference. Beyond technology, you'll be part of a culture that values talent as its greatest asset, empowering you to contribute to a mission that improves patient care worldwide.
