Job description
Machinist for Aerospace ManufacturingThis role supports aerospace manufacturing operations by machining, fabricating, and inspecting precision parts using CNC equipment. You will work from engineering drawings and CAD data to produce components that meet strict quality and performance standards in a high-reliability production environment.Key ResponsibilitiesMachine, fabricate, or assemble parts based on engineering drawings and operation sheetsSet up and operate CNC machining centers (horizontal and vertical) to perform drilling, milling, boring, tapping, and related operationsInterpret CAD data, blueprints, sketches, and written instructions to ensure accurate productionVerify NC (G-code) during setup and executionSelect, install, and adjust cutting tools and machine offsets for proper setupInspect parts during and after machining using precision measurement tools to ensure compliance with specificationsPerform secondary operations such as deburring and straightening during machine cyclesMaintain coolant levels and support basic preventative maintenance on equipmentProvide feedback to manufacturing engineers on tooling, processes, and fixturing improvementsTrack machining performance against production targets and communicate shift progress and job statusWork EnvironmentManufacturing production setting supporting aerospace componentsSecond shift schedule (2:30 PM – 12:00 AM) on a 9x80 rotation (every other Friday off)Team-based environment with collaboration between machinists, manufacturing engineers, and quality teamsWork may include overtime, weekends, or schedule adjustments based on production needsWhy You'll Love This RoleHands-on work producing precision components for advanced aerospace systemsOpportunity to work with CNC technology and complex machining processesStrong collaboration with engineering and manufacturing teamsExposure to continuous improvement and process optimization initiativesBasic QualificationsAbility to read and interpret blueprints, CAD data, and operation sheetsExperience setting up and operating CNC machining centers (horizontal and/or vertical)Understanding of G&M codeAbility to use precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, and similar instruments) to verify part qualityAbility to obtain and maintain a Secret clearanceAbility to work second shift (2:30 PM – 12:00 AM) and a rotating 9x80 schedule, including occasional overtime or weekend supportDesired SkillsExperience with Siemens 840D (Celos) control systemsExperience with Mazatrol CNC systemsFamiliarity with Mastercam or Siemens NX programming toolsPay InformationFull-Time Salary Range: $ - $ At Lockheed Martin, we know mission success starts with taking care of our people.
