CNC Machinist - Milling – 1st ShiftWe are currently seeking a skilled CNC Machinist - Milling for 1st Shift 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at our Agawam, MA facility.Vaupell designs, engineers, and produces custom, high-performance engineered plastic and composite components and assemblies for demanding applications. Collaboration with our customers in all phases of the product life cycle results in the highest value solutions that reduce time to market, manage risk and control costs.Position PurposeProduce small to medium size precision machined parts by operating computer numerical control (CNC) lathes, milling machines and bridgeports.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesLoads, operates, cleans and maintains CNC machines and other shop equipment as directed.Assures that parts are made to specification to achieve customer satisfaction.Verifies settings by measuring specifications on work pieces.Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations.Taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls.Maintain accurate quality records and documentation in accordance with regulatory and internal requirements.Responsible for following all established Vaupell policies, standard operating procedures and safety practices.Other duties as assignedJob Qualifications/RequirementsHigh School Diploma/(GED) and 3+ years job specific experience or graduate from a technical high school/college diploma/certification with CNC machining concentration, plus 1 year job specific experienceBasic mathematics (addition, subtraction, division, multiplication)Ability to prepare routine reports and correspondence.Ability to read, speak, understand and follow instructions in English.Must be able to wear and properly use required personal protective equipmentCandidates must be a "US Person" (i.e. US Citizen or Permanent Resident) to ensure Vaupell's compliance with ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) and EAR (Export Administration Regulations)Environmental ConditionWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and vibrations. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to occasionally loud. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Physical RequirementsThis position requires the ability to stand and walk for the majority of the workday; lift and carry up to 25 pounds frequently and up to or over 50 pounds occasionally; push, pull, bend at the waist, reach above and below shoulder level, grasp, handle, and use finger dexterity as needed to perform machining and inspection duties. The role also requires eye-hand coordination, near and far vision acuity, depth and color perception, ordinary hearing, keyboarding, and the ability to occasionally sit, climb stairs or ladders, balance, kneel, crawl, turn, or twist.
