Research Tool Corporation is looking for an experienced CNC Machinist to join our team in Ovid, Michigan.
We are a precision manufacturing company producing custom parts, fixtures, gages, tooling, and prototypes for customers across a variety of industries. This position is a good fit for a machinist who is comfortable working independently, setting up their own jobs, reading complex prints, and producing quality parts in a job-shop environment.
What You'll Do
Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes to produce precision parts
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, work orders, specifications, GD&T, and machining requirements
Set tools, offsets, and tool compensation
Create, edit, execute, and properly store CNC/G-code programs
Inspect your own work using micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring equipment
Calculate dimensions and tolerances as needed
Verify incoming work and materials against job and print requirements
Maintain accurate documentation and communicate job status, irregularities, and continuing needs
Maintain quality and safety standards throughout the machining process
Perform routine preventative maintenance and notify management of equipment issues
Assist and train other team members when needed
Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor
What We're Looking For
Previous CNC machining experience with the ability to independently set up and operate CNC equipment
Strong blueprint-reading skills, including an understanding of GD&T
Working knowledge of G-code and CNC programming
Ability to set up and touch off machine tools
Experience using micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring tools
Strong math skills, including geometry and basic algebra
High attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines
High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Experience
Experience in any of the following is a plus, but not required:
Multi-axis CNC milling
CNC turning
Grinding
EDM programming and operation
Welding
Machine maintenance
Working in an AS9100, ISO 9001, or similar quality-controlled manufacturing environment
