Job Description Job Description Axion Corporation is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist / Programmer to join our manufacturing team in Huntsville. We're looking for a hands-on machinist who can do more than run a machine - someone comfortable programming, setting up, troubleshooting, and running CNC equipment, and taking a part from print to finished product. Experience with Haas machines and controls is strongly preferred.
What You'll Do
Program, set up, and operate our Haas machining centers - UMC-750 (5-axis) and VF-series (any model), 3- and 5-axis
Write and edit programs from engineering drawings and 3D models; program and/or operate Fanuc controls
Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications (including GD&T )
Determine appropriate tooling, speeds, feeds, and machining processes
Perform setups, prove-outs, and troubleshoot machining issues
Inspect finished parts with precision measuring equipment; verify dimensional and quality requirements
Maintain accurate production and quality documentation
Work with production and quality to meet customer requirements and delivery schedules
Keep a clean, organized, and safe work area
What We're Looking For
Previous CNC machining experience with CNC programming
Haas experience strongly preferred; comfortable in 3- and 5-axis
Fanuc programming and/or operation
Read and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD hold tight tolerances
Knowledge of tooling, setups, speeds, feeds, and machining processes
Skilled with precision measuring and inspection equipment
Strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting, and attention to detail
Able to work independently and take ownership of your work
Precision, aerospace, or defense manufacturing experience a plus
Must meet U.S. Person requirements for ITAR-controlled work
