Job Description Job Description About the Role: General Machine & Boring Inc is looking for a skilled Boring Mill Operator to join our team in Brighton, MI! This is a hands-on machining role where your precision and expertise will be at the heart of every project we deliver. Responsibilities: Set up and operate horizontal or vertical boring mills to machine metal parts to tight tolerances
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine machining specifications
Select and install appropriate tooling, fixtures, and attachments for each job
Monitor feeds, speeds, and cutting conditions to ensure optimal performance and part quality
Perform in-process inspection using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and bore gauges
Maintain and perform basic preventive maintenance on boring mill equipment
Document production records and report any quality or equipment issues to supervision
Requirements: Proven experience operating horizontal mills in a machine shop environment
Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and engineering drawings
Proficiency with precision measuring tools and quality inspection techniques
Strong understanding of speeds, feeds, and metal cutting principles
Experience with manual and/or CNC boring mill operations preferred, Mastercam programming a plus.
Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality, accurate work
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs in a shop environment
