CNC Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Morganton, NC
Compensation: $35–$40 per hour, plus overtime
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–5:30 PM, with every other Saturday, 7:00 AM–12:00 PM. Scheduled hours alternate between 50 and 55 per week, averaging 52.5 hours.
About the Opportunity
A growing, family-owned precision machining manufacturer is seeking an experienced CNC Manufacturing Engineer to support new and existing projects. The company produces high-quality machined components for a variety of industries and offers a collaborative environment with flexibility when time off is needed.
This is a hands-on technical position requiring advanced CNC programming, setup, tooling, and machining process development skills.
Responsibilities
Develop and optimize CNC programs using Mastercam or Fusion 360.
Establish efficient machining methods, setups, and tooling strategies to consistently produce high-quality parts.
Support machining operations involving 3-axis mills, 5-axis mills, and CNC lathes, based on equipment experience.
Manage new and existing projects, identifying opportunities to improve quality, productivity, and machining efficiency.
Troubleshoot programming, setup, tooling, and machining process issues.
Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to ensure parts meet customer requirements.
Mentor machinists and operators to strengthen their CNC manufacturing skills.
Work within established ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality requirements.
Required Qualifications
At least 10 years of hands-on CNC programming and setup experience.
Strong proficiency in CAM programming using Mastercam or Fusion 360 .
Experience with at least one of the following: 3-axis CNC milling, 5-axis CNC milling, or CNC turning .
Strong knowledge of standard and custom cutting tools, tooling selection, and machining methods.
Ability to develop programs and manufacturing processes independently.
Strong mechanical aptitude, computer skills, and attention to detail.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
Must provide personal tools appropriate for the position.
Availability to work the established overtime schedule.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong understanding and practical application of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
Experience across multiple CNC machining platforms.
Experience supporting continuous improvement in a precision manufacturing environment.
