CNC OD/ID Grinder OperatorAdvanced Machine & Engineering is a diversified manufacturing company that designs, builds, & delivers carbide sawing systems, custom work holding solutions, & automation solutions for a variety of industries. We are looking for full time, 1st shift CNC OD/ID Grinder Operator. The ideal candidate is responsible for setting up and operating CNC outside diameter (OD) and inside diameter (ID) grinding machines to produce precision components that meet engineering specifications and quality standards in a job shop environment. This role requires the ability to independently program and set up jobs, ensure tight tolerances, surface finish requirements, and consistent quality while supporting production efficiency and safety objectives, typically on small quantity orders.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Program, set up, and operate CNC OD and ID grinding machines, including tooling, wheels, and fixturesIndependently develop and adjust CNC programs to meet part specifications, without relying on pre-set programsRead and interpret complex blueprints, work orders, and grinding specifications with a high level of accuracySelect, dress, and maintain grinding wheels as requiredMonitor machine operations and make adjustments to achieve required tolerances and finishesPerform high-level inspection of finished parts using precision measuring instrumentsAdapt quickly to frequent job changeovers typical of a job shop, small-quantity production environmentPerform routine machine maintenance and maintain a clean and organized work areaIdentify and report defects, process issues, or equipment concernsFollow all safety procedures, quality standards, and housekeeping requirementsWork collaboratively with supervisors, engineers, and other production team membersQualifications & Requirements:Education: High School Diploma/GED requiredExperience: Minimum 5 years of CNC OD/ID grinding experience required; job shop experience with small quantity orders strongly preferred; experience grinding spindles, shafts, and housings is a plusReading Ability: Must be able to read and understand EnglishSkills:Strong knowledge of CNC OD and ID grinding processes and equipmentProficient in independent CNC programming and machine set upHigh-level blueprint and technical drawing reading abilityHigh-level inspection skills using precision measuring tools (micrometers, bore gauges, comparators)Strong attention to detail and ability to hold tight tolerancesComfortable working in a fast-paced job shop environment with varying, small-batch ordersBasic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamEffective time-management and problem-solving skillsWork Environment:Manufacturing and industrial environmentRegular exposure to CNC machinery, production equipment, mechanical systems, and electrical equipmentRequired use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)Must follow established safety and lockout/tagout procedures
