Job description

CNC Helper / CNC OperatorThis entry-level CNC Helper / CNC Operator role supports experienced CNC Machinists and Operators in a precision machining environment focused on metal components for tactical equipment. You will assist with machine setup, operation, basic maintenance, and quality checks while learning advanced manufacturing skills in a climate-controlled machine shop. This position is ideal for someone who is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and eager to build a long-term career in machining and CNC operations.ResponsibilitiesAssist in loading and unloading raw materials and finished parts from CNC machines in a safe and efficient manner.Clean and deburr machined parts to ensure they meet established quality and finish standards.Perform basic machine maintenance, including cleaning equipment, oiling components, and checking fluid levels to keep machines running smoothly.Monitor CNC machine operations during production and promptly report any irregularities, malfunctions, or unusual noises.Organize tools, fixtures, and materials to support an efficient workflow and minimize downtime.Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area in accordance with company safety policies and machine shop best practices.Support machinists with setup tasks such as clamping and fixturing workpieces, loading tools, and assisting with tool changes.Perform basic inspections and quality checks using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools to verify part dimensions and tolerances.Read and follow work instructions and safety guidelines to complete tasks accurately and safely.Document production data accurately and assist with tracking inventory of materials, tools, and finished parts.Work collaboratively with machinists and other team members to meet production goals and maintain high-quality standards.Demonstrate a willingness to learn CNC operations, including working with equipment such as Haas machines, lathes, and other machining tools.Essential SkillsHigh school diploma or equivalent.Basic mechanical aptitude and a strong interest in machining or manufacturing.Ability to read and understand work instructions and safety guidelines.Ability to perform basic measurements and inspections using calipers and micrometers.Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods during the shift.Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.Mechanically inclined with the ability to work around machine tools and shop equipment.Willingness to learn CNC operations and grow within an advanced manufacturing environment.Additional Skills & QualificationsPrior experience in a manufacturing or machining environment.Familiarity with CNC machines, including Haas equipment, and metalworking tools.Exposure to lathes and machine shop operations.Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints or part drawings.Knowledge of safety practices and procedures in a machine shop environment.Experience with part inspection, including use of micrometers, calipers, and other measuring instruments.Experience assisting with machine setup, including fixturing and basic tool setup.Why Work Here?You will work in a modern, climate-controlled facility with air conditioning and a comfortable shop environment. The culture is described as laid back yet focused on working hard and efficiently, with an expectation of safe work practices and professional conduct on the shop floor.Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Fredericksburg, VA.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
