Job description
CNC Swiss Machine OperatorThis role focuses on operating multiple CNC Swiss machines in a high-precision, metals-based medical manufacturing environment. You will contribute directly to the production of critical components used in advanced medical applications, ensuring high quality, safety, and efficiency throughout the machining process. The position offers structured training, multiple shift options with premiums, and the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art equipment in a collaborative, team-based setting.ResponsibilitiesOperate multiple CNC machines, including CNC Swiss equipment, in a team-based production environment to meet daily output goals.Perform general and routine maintenance on assigned machines to support continuous and efficient production.Conduct regular in-process inspections to ensure parts meet quality standards and specifications.Follow all company safety guidelines and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.Read and interpret blueprints and basic geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) to understand part requirements and machining operations.Inspect parts using visual and manual inspection tools such as calipers and micrometers, as well as programmed CMM equipment (with training provided).Make machine offsets and change tooling according to provided layouts, with training and guidance as needed.Complete required documentation related to machining operations and part quality.Communicate clearly with team members and leadership regarding job status, production issues, and part quality.Participate in initial training on first shift and apply learned skills when transitioning to the assigned production shift.Essential Skills23 years of experience operating CNC Swiss machines in a production or manufacturing environment.Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints for machining operations.Experience performing documentation related to machining processes and part quality.Ability to read, write, and speak English to follow work instructions, complete documentation, and communicate with the team.Ability to use precision measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers for part inspection.Basic understanding of CNC machining principles and operation.Commitment to following safety procedures and maintaining a safe work environment.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with specific Swiss CNC machinery such as Citizen, Tornos, SR-20RN, and SR-20RV.Ability to interpret geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).Familiarity with CMM inspection equipment, with willingness to train further.Experience working in a high-precision, metals-based manufacturing environment.Comfort working in a team-based setting with multiple machines and complex workflows.Interest in supporting medical technology and high-impact products.Why Work Here?You will join a precision-focused medical manufacturing organization that values innovation, collaboration, and the impact its products have on patients and their families. Multiple shift options are available: a first shift day schedule (6:00 am5:30 pm, MondayThursday), second/third night shifts (5:30 pm5:00 am, MondayThursday) with a 10% shift premium, weekend night shifts (5:30 pm5:00 am, FridayMonday) with a 15% shift premium, and weekend day shifts (6:00 am5:30 pm, FridayMonday) with an 11% shift premium. Initial training typically occurs on first shift (5:00 am5:30 pm or 8:00 am4:00 pm) for 12 weeks before transitioning to the assigned shift, with accommodations possible for those unable to train on first shift. Employees work in a clean, climate-controlled facility focused on precision machining, using advanced CNC Swiss equipment, inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, and CMM systems, and standard shop attire appropriate for a manufacturing environment.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wheeling, IL.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
