CNC ProgrammerMAU is hiring a CNC Programmer for our client in Richmond, VA. As a CNC Programmer, you will develop and verify CNC programs, troubleshoot machining processes, support manufacturing operations, and implement improvements to safety, quality, cost, and delivery. This is a contract opportunity with an 18-month assignment and potential for direct hire.Benefits PackageHealth insuranceOn-the-job trainingUniform allowanceShift Information1st Shift | Monday - Friday | 7:30 AM - 4:30 PMRequired Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree, associate's degree, or completion of a Machinist Apprenticeship (or similar program), plus 3 years of experience with graphical-based CAM system CNC programming; ORHigh school diploma with 6 years of experience with graphics-based CAM system CNC programmingPreferred Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree in Engineering or Machine Tool TechnologyExperience with Siemens NX CAM (version 1953 or later)Experience creating 5-axis CNC programs using a CAM systemMinimum of 1 year of experience with high-level machine tool controls, including subroutine (macro), Renishaw probing routines, and variable-based programmingExperience machining high-temperature superalloys found in Heavy-Duty Gas Turbine (HDGT) or aerospace componentsExperience programming large Vertical Turning Lathes (VTL), Vertical Boring Mills (VBM), and Horizontal Boring Mills (HBM)Experience with creep-feed grindingExperience with sinker EDM, wire EDM, and fast-hole drilling EDMExperience with Vericut (preferred) or other CNC verification and machine simulation softwareExperience with large precision grinding applicationsGeneral RequirementsAbility to safely operate machinery, including machine setup and first-piece prove-outStrong problem-solving and organizational skillsAbove-average shop mathematics skills, including geometry and trigonometryStrong familiarity with multiple machine controls, including Fanuc, Haas, Okuma, Siemens, and G&LDemonstrated proficiency in interpreting engineering drawing requirementsAbility to multitask and productively manage multiple projects concurrentlyEffective communication skills when coordinating with appropriate team membersAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a team-based, matrixed organizationAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while embracing and driving positive organizational changeEssential FunctionsDevelop and maintain CNC programs using Siemens NX CAM or other CAM software for multi-axis milling, turning, grinding, and/or electrical discharge machining (EDM).Verify new CNC programs using Vericut before releasing them to the shop floor.Support Manufacturing Engineers (M.E.) with CNC programming and machining-related activities.Train machine operators during new or rebuilt machine startups and process improvement initiatives.Provide daily CNC programming and troubleshooting support to shop floor operators.Support and implement tooling and fixturing requirements associated with CNC machine tools.Develop and maintain workstation instructions and machining methods for CNC-related processes.Initiate and lead process improvement projects to improve manufacturing safety, quality, cost, and delivery.Communicate effectively with appropriate team members to support manufacturing operations and process improvements.
