Job TitleCNC ProgrammerLocationCapewell Aerial Systems - South Windsor, CTReports ToDirector of OperationsPosition SummaryThis position encompasses all aspects of CNC Programming for all company CNC Lathe and Milling machines, including but not limited to programming of machines, creating 3-D models in MasterCam, developing sequence of operation and method of fixturing parts. Efficiency and accuracy are vital in this position, along with adherence to safety rules & regulations and cooperating with & assisting other Departments / Employees on a regular basis.Primary ResponsibilitiesProgramming (50-75% of the role)Program CNC Turning and Milling Centers to specifications as described on drawings or engineering specifications.Create 3-D models from drawings using MasterCam programming software.Develop the sequence of operations in the program.Develop the most efficient method of fixturing the part.Ensure the most effective tooling is utilized, to include cutters and holders, to obtain the best efficiency and quality of the part.Responsible for the configuration management of CNC programs to correct revision levels.Make improvements to new or existing programs for improved efficiency.Communicate with machinists and machine operators regarding set-up and effectiveness of CNC program.Deploy CNC programs to support production schedule using work order system in Visual ERP system.May work with Cost Estimator to develop estimated machining and set-up times on potential new work.Generate work instructions or process sheets to aid the operators.Machining (25-50% of the role)Set up and operate the various shop equipment, including but not limited to CNC mills and CNC lathes, using vises, fixtures, and rotary indexers.Maintain equipment and/or machinery.Train other employees as required.Assist in helping other operators to maintain production and quality.Keep accurate records on jobs.Practice and follow all safety rules.Maintain a safe and clean work area.Work cooperatively with other employees to meet department and company goals.This position requires personal protective equipment on the shop floor where safety glasses and composite toe safety shoes are required by all.Other DutiesPerform additional duties as directed by supervisors or management to support departmental and organizational objectives.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesNoneEducation, Experience and SkillsCompletion of a Mastercam programming course requiredAt least 3 years of programming experience in CNC manufacturing requiredMust have experience with CNC MillsExperience with HAAS equipment a plusExperience with 4th Axis Programming requiredExperience with machine automation preferredExperience with Horizontal and Pallet Changing/Automation requiredExperience with fixture design and implementation requiredExperience with tooling requiredAbility to work with minimum supervisionAbility to program and run multiple machines when necessaryDesire to learn and teach new skillsTeamwork, problem solving, motivation, adaptability, attendance/punctuality and good interpersonal skills a mustEligibility RequirementsTeam Members in this position must be a U.S. Person, as defined by U.S. export control laws.Team Members are required to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.An individual with a disability will be considered qualified for any position that the person can perform the essential function of the position with or without reasonable accommodation. Physical requirements may include:While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, squat, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.The Team Member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.The Team Member must occasionally climb up to 10 steps and/or 9' high on a ladderClear verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with colleagues and stakeholders.Work EnvironmentThe noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and sometimes excessive.This is a full-time, onsite position.The work schedule for this position is Monday through Thursday 6AM – 3:30PM and every other Friday 6AM – 2:30PM with a 30-minute lunch break.CompensationThe hiring range for this position is $34-$58/hr. This range is an estimate and the actual hourly rate may vary based on the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications. Capewell offers a competitive and comprehensive total rewards package.
