Job TitleThis position is responsible for performing precision initial Set Up of jobs in machines. Primarily but not limited to Swiss Operations. The role will also serve as the primary back up to the Set Up Readiness Technician. Overall agenda to reduce set up time plant wide though use of SMED system and increased skill. On occasion may be asked to run production or participate improvement projectsKey ResponsibilitiesPerform most critical set ups daily with direction from Production supervisor and Set Up Readiness Technician in a fast efficient mannerLead and Participate in SMED CI Projects to reduce plant wide set up timeProvide leadership or mentoring to other machinist performing set upsAssist Set Up Readiness Technician with suggested improvements and document management.Directly back up Set Up Readiness Technician rolePromote effective team building within the department and with other departments.Complete required documentation for all jobs responsible for, including entering data into ERP system.Other duties as assigned.Required QualificationsA related machine trades certificate/diploma and five years relevant experience, OR, seven years relevant experience.Experience setting up and operating complex machine tools. (Primary Swiss)Intermediate ability to read and interpret assembly drawings and specifications.Proficient in the use of machinist hand tools and measuring tools, process planning and inspection.Machine shop math skills.Proficient PC skills in a Windows environment.Effective written and verbal communication skills.Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.Strong organizational and planning skills.Preferred QualificationsExperience editing programs through machine controls and general understanding of programmingDemonstrated problem-solving ability in a machine shop environment.Previous Set Up experience related to SMED ProjectsExperience using an ERP system.Ideal candidate will progress towards Future Programming roleCompensation and Benefits OverviewStarting Pay Range for this position is $34-$42/HourMinimum pay rates offered will comply with applicable county or city regulations if they exceed the listed range.
