Job Description
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee all aspects of the Swimming/Diving Program including student-athlete development, game strategies, and team leadership.
Serve as the Varsity Head Swim Coach.
Oversee all tryouts, practices, and games.
Be knowledgeable about the game, particularly game management and rules.
Develop and execute an effective training program.
Motivate and mentor student-athletes in and out of the swimming pool.
Instruct student-athletes in fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training necessary for individual and team success.
Guide student-athletes in developing moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence.
Foster teamwork, discipline, respect, sportsmanship, and skill development.
Ensure the safety and well-being of student-athletes.
Cooperate in a timely manner with the School Athletic Director and the District Athletic Department regarding requests for pertinent information.
Meet all requirements mandated by the District Board of Education, the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA), and the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) relative to the mandated Coaches Tool Chest (CTC) training/certification and the ODE Pupil Activity Permit (PAP).
Check the status of academic eligibility for all prospective student-athletes.
Follow District Athletic Department policies as outlined in the Coaches Handbook and meet all criteria as outlined in the job description.
Model the behavior expected of student-athletes, including timeliness to practices and games, positivity, enthusiasm, respect, and constructive criticism while upholding the program disciplines.
Maintain suitable sideline conduct, including the use of appropriate language, at all times.
Accept and profit from constructive criticism and suggestions for improving coaching performance.
Recognize the need to be aware of and implement all applicable administrative policies set forth by the District Board of Education, Superintendents, Principals, Conference Leagues, ODE, and OHSAA.
Provide all applicable in-season training rules and any out-of-season conduct rules to student-athletes prior to the start of the season and follow appropriate due-process procedures when violations occur.
Participate in clinics and other available programs to improve coaching performance.
Participate in school events (e.g., Awards Night, Pep Assemblies, Athletic Booster Meetings).
Assist in ensuring the team is well-prepared for opponents.
Maintain accurate inventory of equipment and supplies.
SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS:
Fundraising experience.
Strong knowledge of swim rules, techniques, and strategies.
Passionate and dedicated to inspiring student-athletes.
Previous coaching experience preferred.
Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
Serve as a positive role model.
Demonstrated knowledge and skills associated with the sport.
TRAINING / CERTIFICATIONS:
Ohio Secondary Teaching Certificate preferred.
Evidence of successful past coaching experience at the high school or college level preferred.
Provide satisfactory results of County Police Records Check, State BCIICheck, and FBI Fingerprint Background Check.
Possess Ohio Department of Education (ODE) Pupil Activity Permit (PAP).
Provide proof of completion of Coaches Tool Chest (CTC) training/certification.
CONTRACT PROVISIONS:
TYPE OF CONTRACT: Supplemental Annual Limited
SALARY: Per Schedule E Contract of current C.F.T. Labor Agreement
REPORTS TO: School Principal
