Join Sarasota County Public Utilities as a Code Compliance Inspector, where you'll inspect private developments, public infrastructure projects, and treatment facilities to verify compliance with County standards and regulations. Apply today and make an impact!Job DescriptionInspect utility and development projects to ensure compliance with approved plans, County standards, and applicable regulationsReview and interpret engineered utility construction plans, specifications, and permits for adherence to design requirementsVerify compliance with Utility Code, Land Development Regulations, State regulations, and contract specificationsRepresent Public Utilities throughout construction by coordinating with engineers, contractors, developers, property owners, and County departmentsConduct field inspections of water, wastewater, reclaimed water, and utility infrastructure projects during all phases of constructionInvestigate citizen concerns, document field changes and code violations, and prepare detailed inspection reportsRecommend and perform specialized field testing to evaluate non-standard construction conditionsMonitor utility testing activities and participate in final acceptance inspections for residential, commercial, and subdivision projectsEnsure construction is complete and meets all requirements prior to final certification and utility infrastructure turnoverEnforce utility codes, engineering standards, and permitting requirements while serving as the onsite representative for the Utilities Regulatory Manager and SupervisorWork HoursMonday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.About YouMinimum Qualifications:A High School Diploma or its equivalentFour (4) years of utility construction work and/or inspection and testing of utility workTwo (2) years out of the four (4) years, must be in utility inspecting, design, or construction experienceCollege or university-level training in an appropriate field may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required utility construction experienceA valid Florida Driver's License at the time of hirePreferred "BONUS" Qualifications:Five (5) years of utility construction work and/or plan review, inspections and testing of utility or construction workKnowledge of code enforcement procedures, Accela plan review and permitting software computer systemTechnical knowledge of practices, standards and regulations of utility constructionAbility to interpret and use plans and specifications and knowledge of alternative procedures of constructionPhysical Demands: Must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening.
