Job description
Job PostingUnder the direction of the Public Safety Commander, the Code Enforcement Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and administering the City's municipal code enforcement activities. The position works collaboratively across City departments to address property, nuisance, zoning, housing, and other community concerns affecting the health, safety, appearance, and general welfare of the community. The Coordinator serves as a resource for residents, property owners, businesses, City staff, and community partners regarding municipal code requirements and compliance. The position emphasizes education, communication, problem solving, voluntary compliance, and coordination of available City and community resources while pursuing formal enforcement action when necessary. The Code Enforcement Coordinator manages cases from initial complaint or identification through investigation, compliance, enforcement, abatement, legal proceedings, and final resolution. The position exercises independent judgment in prioritizing cases, determining appropriate compliance strategies, coordinating departmental responses, and ensuring enforcement actions are consistent, timely, properly documented, and legally sufficient.
