Overview
The Division of Colorectal Surgery in the Department of Surgery at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University is seeking a colorectal surgeon to join our growing faculty. This position will be based primarily at Rhode Island Hospital and the Miriam Hospital, with potential practice opportunities at other Brown‑affiliated hospitals across the health system. The role is designed for a surgeon who is passionate about excellence in clinical care while also embracing the academic mission of our department.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching (10%): Participate as a preceptor in the Core Clerkship in Surgery, the Colorectal residency program and the clinical elective for medical students enrolled at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and the teaching programs of the Department of Surgery at the Miriam Hospital and Rhode Island Hospital, including residents in General Surgery and the ACGME‑accredited Colorectal program, and interdisciplinary teaching programs with other divisions and departments.
Research (up to 10%): Pursue basic, translational or clinical research programs pertaining to colorectal surgery. Participate in national, regional, and institutional clinical research protocols at Brown Health and The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
Patient Care (80%): Provide inpatient and outpatient care, perform colorectal procedures including colonoscopy, and share call coverage and consultative services.
Service Responsibilities: Maintain a positive working relationship in all activities of the Division of Colorectal Surgery, attend faculty and staff meetings, serve on medical school, hospital, and department committees, and collaborate with the Division Chief and Chair of Surgery to advance departmental and division goals.
Qualifications
Board certification or eligibility in general surgery and specialty training with board certification or eligibility in colorectal surgery.
A strong clinical background in surgical diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.
Commitment to scholarly participation in research and educational programs of The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
Faculty Appointment
Faculty appointment will be at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, contingent upon qualifications.
