Job Description

Position Summary

HVJ North Texas – Chelliah Consultants, Inc. is seeking a motivated and dependable CoMET Field/Lab Technician to support both field and laboratory operations within our Construction Materials Engineering and Testing (CoMET) division. This position is responsible for performing field testing, sample collection, laboratory testing, documentation, and reporting in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.

The ideal candidate is safety-focused, detail-oriented, and willing to work both in the field and laboratory environments to support construction projects throughout the DFW area.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Perform field testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, and other construction materials.

Collect samples and transport materials between project sites and the laboratory.

Conduct laboratory testing in accordance with ASTM, AASHTO, and project specifications.

Accurately document test results and maintain testing records.

Prepare field reports and laboratory reports in a timely manner.

Coordinate with project managers, laboratory personnel, contractors, and clients.

Maintain testing equipment and ensure proper calibration and functionality.

Follow all company safety policies and procedures.

Travel to construction sites as required throughout the DFW Metroplex.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.

Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Strong communication and organizational skills.

Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience in construction materials testing or geotechnical testing.

Current or ability to obtain ACI, TxDOT, NICET, or related certifications.

Experience performing field and laboratory testing on soils, concrete, and asphalt.

Knowledge of ASTM and AASHTO testing procedures.

Physical Requirements

Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and carrying equipment.

Ability to work on active construction sites safely.

Ability to work overtime and occasional weekends as project needs require.
