Livingston Regional Hospital PBX OperatorJoin Livingston Regional Hospital, a 114-bed, community hospital certified for sepsis care by the Joint Commission and accredited for chest pain by the American College of Cardiology. Grow your career where your work touches your neighbors.The PBX Operator is responsible for managing all internal and external calls to the facility in a courteous and professional manner. This role ensures accurate and timely routing of calls, operates the hospital paging system, and acts as an information resource to patients, visitors, and staff.Essential FunctionsAnswer incoming calls promptly, courteously, and professionallyDirect calls to appropriate departments or personnel based on caller needsAccurately transfer calls and handle internal/external inquiriesServe as an information center for callers and internal guestsOperate the hospital's public address system, including pages for emergencies and routine announcementsExecute emergency paging procedures for codes and disaster protocolsSanitize and maintain cleanliness of PBX equipment and workspace dailyMaintain confidentiality of patient and operational informationPerform additional clerical or administrative tasks as assignedKnowledge/Skills/Abilities/ExpectationsClear, articulate verbal communicationAbility to use sound judgment and remain calm in emergenciesBasic knowledge of hospital departments and functionsStrong customer service orientationAttention to detail and ability to multitaskBasic computer and telephone system proficiencyConstant: Sitting, using hands for phone/keypad, seeing, hearing, and speakingOccasional: Standing, walking, reaching with hands and arms, stoopingLifting: Occasionally lifts up to 10 lbsOffice-based hospital settingMinimal exposure to clinical hazardsMay experience moderate noise levels from telephone equipment or emergency announcementsQualificationsEducationHigh School Diploma or Equivalent including education equivalent to completion of secondary school or demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the role. (Preferred)Licenses/CertificationsNone RequiredExperiencePrior Experience working with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment (Preferred)
