Job description
The Center for Youth: Started BY YOUTH FOR YOUTH. We partner with youth to realize their full potential, by creating opportunities, removing barriers and promoting social justice.
nOverview:
nThe Street Outreach Program provides on-the-street services, including crisis and survival care and referral information to street youth in an attempt to increase their personal safety and encourage them to partner with us to leave the streets for a more stable living environment.
nThe Community Navigator engages homeless youth with the goal of increasing their access to community resources and natural safety nets. This position will assist homeless youth and young adults in crisis intervention, problem solving, action planning, and skill building, to address immediate life and safety issues, reduce the risk of sexual exploitation and abuse, and reduce or prevent incidents of homelessness.
nSchedule: Full time 35 hours per week. 35 hours per week. 2 evening shifts a week. Weekend availability required.
nResponsibilities:
nnCrisis intervention
nScreening and assessment
nIndividual counseling
nCase management
nCommunity outreach to locations where youth are known to congregate
nTransportation of youth as needed
nMaintain client confidentiality
nEngage youth to offer services and referrals
n nRequired Qualifications:
nnBachelor's Degree in Human Services or related field AND 1 year related experience OR equivalent combination
n nnA valid driver's license
n nSkills:
nnStrong knowledge of community resources
nStrong literacy and communication skills
n nnStrong knowledge of adolescent development including positive youth development, asset development, risk reduction, and protective factors
n nnAdvanced knowledge of Microsoft Office
nAdvanced knowledge of Internet Explorer
n nPay Rate: $20- $21 per hour
