Job Description
Performs intermediate administrative and administrative support work: utilize office equipment, such as phones, computer, fax, copier, scanner, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Solid Waste Director.

Position Responsibilities

Manages social media, website platforms, and marketing materials for the Solid Waste Department
Coordinates and executes the liter sweep program
Schedule, coordinate, and plan community events; networks and assists other County departments for events
Coordinates with Material Recovery Facility on recycling outreach
Assist with and coordinate community outreach programs; educational programs for school aged children
Research, manage, and apply for grants
Assist with current recycling programs; maintain accurate recycling program records; research new recycling opportunities
Monitor recycling collections areas
Participate in residential household hazardous waste events
Assist the weighmasters in scale house support
Performs assigned functions as a Disaster Ready Team (DRT) member, if appointed or volunteered
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
General knowledge and understanding of laws and regulations that govern recycling, set forth by federal regulations and the NC General Statutes. Comprehensive knowledge of grant research, application, and reporting. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with associates and general public. General knowledge and ability to maintain social media content and create effective marketing tools. Ability to operate within a high performing organization. Ability to operate a person computer and standard office productivity software. General knowledge of the landfill and its history.
Education, Experience, and Special Requirements
High school diploma or GED and moderate experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Associates/Technical degree preferred.
Valid Driver License as this position will require the use of County Vehicles.
Ability to obtain Carolina Recycling Association within 6 months of hire.
Ability to obtain Weighmaster Certification within 6 month of hire.
Sa lary will be determined based on qualifications, internal equity, and market considerations.

North Carolina Local Governmental Employees' Retirement System
Eligible employees are automatically enrolled in the retirement system and must contribute 6% of their gross salary each pay period. Once eligibility requirements are met, employees will be able to receive monthly payments for life based on their salary, age, and years of service credit.
NC401k
The County contributes 1% of employees' gross salary into the 401(k) account regardless of the employee's deferral amount. In addition, the County matches employee deferrals up to an additional 4%.
Vacation Leave
Regular full-time employees earn 13.5 days of vacation leave per year. With each 5-year increment of employment, vacation accrual increases.
Sick Leave
Regular full-time employees earn 12 days of sick leave per year.
Paid Holidays
County employees receive paid holidays annually. The Board of County Commissioners approves and may adjust the schedule as deemed necessary.
ComPsych Mental Health Services
The County provides Mental Health and Life Services through ComPsych to help employees and their families with personal, family and job-related problems such as counseling, crisis support, work-life resources, legal and financial consultations, and organizational support tools.
