Companion Role at Dharma Home CareDharma Home Care is seeking compassionate, dependable, and engaging Per Diem Companions to help older adults remain engaged, connected, and independent in their own homes. This flexible role is ideal for individuals who are looking to make a meaningful difference while working on an as-needed basis. As our client base grows, opportunities for additional hours may become available. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy building relationships, sharing conversation, and helping older adults remain active, connected, and independent in their daily lives. We are especially interested in candidates who are bilingual or multilingual and can help us match clients with companions who share their language, culture, interests, and life experiences.Companions play an important role in enhancing quality of life by providing social engagement and day-to-day support. Responsibilities may include:Providing companionship and meaningful conversationProviding supportive supervision and companionship to individuals living with Alzheimer's disease or other forms of dementia during walks, appointments, errands, and community outingsAssisting with meal preparationPlaying games, listening to music, reading, and engaging in hobbiesProviding reminders, encouragement, and emotional supportSupporting individuals living with memory loss through meaningful engagement and routineAssisting with shopping, errands, and transportation (when applicable)Performing light housekeeping related to the client's care and comfortWe welcome applicants from a variety of backgrounds, including:Retired teachersRetired healthcare professionalsCollege and nursing studentsFormer family caregiversSocial workersActivity coordinatorsCommunity volunteersIndividuals with experience supporting older adultsAnyone who enjoys connecting with and helping othersPreferred qualifications:Reliable transportationStrong communication and interpersonal skillsExperience with older adults or individuals living with dementiaAbility to work independently and build trusting relationshipsBilingual or multilingual abilitiesLanguages encouraged to apply:HindiPunjabiKoreanMandarinCantoneseRussianSpanishOther languages spoken within our local communitiesCompensation and benefits:Starting pay: $17.50 per hourPer diem / as-needed schedulingFlexible shifts based on your availabilityOpportunity to grow with a rapidly expanding home care agencyMeaningful, rewarding workSupportive and collaborative team environmentCompensation: $17.50 - $19.00 per hourDharma Home Care was founded with a deep sense of duty to serve the most vulnerable members of our community and the people who care for them.
