Job description

About Reserv

Reserv is an insurtech creating and incubating cutting-edge AI and automation technology to bring efficiency and simplicity to claims. Founded by insurtech veterans with deep experience in SaaS and digital claims, Reserv is venture-backed by Bain Capital and Altai Ventures and began operations in May 2022. We are focused on automating highly manual tasks to tackle long-standing problems in claims and set a new standard for TPAs, insurance technology providers, and adjusters alike. We have ambitious (but attainable!) goals and need people who can work in an evolving environment. If building a leading TPA and the prospect of tackling the long-standing challenges of the claims role sounds exciting, we can't wait to meet you.

Location Requirement

Candidates must reside in an eligible U.S. state throughout employment. We are unable to hire candidates residing in California, Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. territories, or outside the United States.

You'll report to Heather Craig, Head of Risk & Compliance, and lead a team of two Complaints Handlers spanning both our US and UK operations. Complaints sits inside Quality, Risk & Compliance — for now, that means one function covering both regions under one roof, with a plan to split into dedicated US and UK complaints teams as volume grows.

This is a working people-leader role, not a pure oversight seat. You'll set the day-to-day standard for how your team triages and resolves complaints, while also carrying your own caseload of the most complex and escalated cases — motor and property disputes, regulatory escalations, and the investigations that need a steady, experienced hand. As the team grows and eventually splits by region, expect this role to shift more toward pure people leadership.

You'll be a good fit if you're comfortable moving between the granular (one escalated complaint, one claim file) and the systemic (the pattern behind nine of them) — and if you'd rather build the process that prevents the next complaint than just close out the one in front of you.

Duties & Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Development: Lead a team of two Complaints Handlers spanning US and UK — set the day-to-day standard for how complaints get triaged, worked, and closed, and coach your team on investigation technique and regulatory requirements. As volumes grow and the team splits into dedicated US and UK functions, you'll help build the leadership bench for what comes next.

Complaint Investigation & Resolution: Own the most complex and escalated complaints yourself — motor and property claims disputes, coverage and liability questions, and the handling/timing issues that make up the bulk of what we see. Dig into claim files, policy documents, and correspondence to figure out what actually happened, then deliver a clear, professional resolution to the customer.

Regulatory & Escalation Management: Be the primary point of contact when a complaint escalates to the Financial Ombudsman Service in the UK or a state Department of Insurance in the US. Every escalation carries both enforcement risk and carrier/MGA relationship risk — you're the one making sure it's handled by the book and doesn't become a bigger problem than it needs to be.

Root Cause Analysis & Reporting: Look past the individual complaint to the pattern underneath it — repeat filers, timing gaps between settlement and payment, systems issues that miscategorize claims — and turn what you find into findings claims leaders and the Risk Council can actually act on.

Cross-Functional Partnership: Work closely with Claims, Product/Engineering, QA, and Compliance to close the loop on what complaints are telling us. When the fix is a process or a system — not a person — you're the one who flags it and pushes it through.

Program & Quality Standards: Build and maintain the complaint-handling standards, records, and processes that keep us audit-ready — from FCA reporting fields to the documentation an external auditor will ask you to defend. Champion a culture where complaints are caught early and closed fairly.

Requirements

5+ years handling complex or escalated complaints, ideally within insurance claims — motor and property experience is directly relevant here

Direct experience with regulatory complaint frameworks — FOS, FCA, state DOI processes, or some combination

2+ years of people-leadership experience

Proven track record building and delivering executive-level communications

Strong investigative instincts — comfortable digging into claim files, policy documents, and correspondence to find the real story, not just the surface issue

Ability to manage a live portfolio of complex complaints under deadline pressure

An adjuster license is not required — this is about complaint resolution and regulatory judgment, not claims adjusting

Bachelor's degree (lack of one shouldn't stop you from applying if you have all the other qualifications)

Benefits

Generous health-insurance package with nationwide coverage, vision, & dental

401(k) retirement plan with employer matching

Competitive PTO policy – we want our employees fresh, healthy, happy, and energized!

Generous family leave policy after 8 months of continuous work

Work from anywhere to facilitate your work life balance

Apple laptop, large second monitor, and other quality-of-life equipment you may want. Technology is something that should make your life easier, not harder!

At Reserv, we value diversity in backgrounds, perspectives, and life experiences and believe that diversity in viewpoints and critical thinking drives innovation, first-principles thinking, and success. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and encourage those from all walks of life to apply. If you believe you are a good fit for this role, we would love to hear from you!
