Job description
The Computer Network and Systems Specialist provides senior-level network engineering leadership for the LTSSMaryland system within Maryland's Department of Health, Office of Enterprise Technology. The position designs and maintains network architecture, monitors performance metrics, oversees system releases and change control processes, and ensures secure, reliable operations supporting HIPAA-compliant healthcare data exchange. This hybrid telework-eligible role requires coordinating with technical teams and providing expert consultation on critical infrastructure including data centers, disaster recovery, and file transfer systems.
Key qualifications:
Seven years of experience designing, developing, testing, implementing and maintaining application, communication, database or operating systems software
Three years of progressive experience in planning, designing, implementation, and analyzing data or telecommunications networks
Familiarity with Personal Computers in a client/server environment and IT technology and carrier management
Experience supporting large-scale government or healthcare technology systems
Knowledge of network security, disaster recovery planning, HIPAA compliance, and infrastructure operations
