Job Title: Concurrent Enrollment Advisor

Department: MCC Admissions

Reports To: District Director of Concurrent Enrollment & MCC Admissions

Job Classification: Non-Exempt

Location: Marshalltown, IA

Rate of Pay: $22.00-$24.00 per hour

Schedule: Monday – Friday up to 29 hours per week between the hours of 8:00 am – 3:30 pm

Summary: The concurrent Enrollment Advisor provides comprehensive student support services to high school students participating in concurrent enrollment programs. This position promotes student success by delivering academic advising, educational planning, enrollment assistance, and ongoing academic monitoring. The Advisor serves as a trusted resource for students and families, helping them navigate the transition to college-level coursework while connecting them to appropriate support services and resources. Through collaboration with high schools, faculty, and college departments, the Concurrent Enrollment Advisor fosters student engagement, academic achievement, college readiness, and successful progression along educational and career pathways.

Job Duties:

Student Advising and Academic Support Provides academic advising to prospective and enrolled concurrent enrollment students regarding program requirements, course selection, degree pathways, and college expectations.

Monitors student academic progress and conducts grade checks throughout each term.

Identifies students experiencing academic challenges and provides appropriate interventions, referrals, and support services.

Educates students and families regarding college policies, procedures, and available resources.

Placement Testing and Enrollment Services Coordinates and assists with concurrent enrollment placement testing activities.

Reviews placement scores and assists students in determining course eligibility.

Guides students through admissions, enrollment, and registration processes.

Assists students with course registration, schedule adjustments, and withdrawal procedures in accordance with institutional policies.

Recruitment and Outreach Participates in recruitment, marketing, and outreach events to promote concurrent enrollment opportunities.

Represents the college at high schools, college fairs, parent information nights, career exploration events, and community activities.

Develops and delivers presentations regarding concurrent enrollment programs, admissions processes, and educational pathways.

Assists in the development and distribution of marketing and informational materials.

Partnership Development and Communication Serves as a primary point of contact for assigned high school students, parents, counselors, and school administrators.

Collaborates with college departments to ensure effective communication and service delivery for concurrent enrollment students.

Communicates program updates, deadlines, eligibility requirements, and student success strategies to stakeholders.

Program Coordination and Compliance Assists with implementation and administration of concurrent enrollment policies and procedures.

Supports data collection, reporting, and assessment efforts related to enrollment, retention, and student success outcomes.

Ensures compliance with institutional, state, and accreditation requirements governing concurrent enrollment programs.

Participates in departmental meetings, professional development activities, and committee work as assigned.

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in education, Counseling, Student Affairs, Communication, or a related field. Master’s preferred.

Abilities: Knowledge of student development and advising practices.

Ability to interpret and explain policies, procedures, and academic requirements.

Strong problem-solving and customer service skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.Strong presentation and public speaking skills.
