Job description

Construction Operator

Scenery Hill, Pennsylvania, United States

At RES, we're looking for purpose-driven individuals who are passionate about restoration and sustainability, and who want their work to make a lasting environmental impact. Our team members go above and beyond, bringing initiative, integrity, and a strong work ethic to every project. Collaboration is key—we thrive on teamwork, open communication, and diverse perspectives. In a field that constantly changes, we value those who are resilient, adaptable, and resourceful in the face of challenges. If you're intellectually curious, eager to learn, and ready to help restore ecosystems and protect natural resources, you'll find your place here.

We're currently hiring for an Operator I to support construction and restoration efforts on sites across (Insert Region). This role is ideal for someone with construction or landscape equipment experience, a commitment to safe field practices, and a strong work ethic. You'll be part of a hands-on crew that delivers real, visible restoration work—from wetland grading to native planting to stream restoration. You'll work outdoors on active project sites across your assigned region. Most work is local or regional, with frequent travel to field sites and the potential for multi-day assignments. Conditions are dynamic—expect uneven terrain, working around heavy equipment, and being part of a coordinated, safety-first crew.

The ability to travel 2-4 nights throughout the week on key projects and home on the weekends. Per Diem and hotel stay provided.

Why You'll Love This Job

You'll be outdoors, helping build natural solutions that improve ecosystems

You'll operate a variety of construction and landscape equipment

You'll work on a tight-knit team where your contributions are valued

You'll learn new tools, technology (like GPS), and restoration techniques

You'll be part of a mission-driven company restoring land and water across the U.S.

A Day in the Life

As an Operator I, your day will start with a morning tailgate meeting and safety check. You may then be assigned to operate a skid steer, dozer, or off-road truck, or assist with planting, erosion control, or grading. You'll be expected to follow field plans and supervisor instructions, report any equipment issues, and maintain a safe working environment.

You'll assist in setting grades, maintaining equipment, and working alongside other operators and laborers. As part of a restoration crew, you'll contribute to streambank stabilization, wetland construction, stormwater infrastructure, and more.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.

Capable of walking over uneven surfaces, climbing on construction equipment, and navigating hills.

Comfortable working outdoors and performing tasks at ground level.

We Would Like To Talk To You If You Have Many Of The Following:

High school diploma or GED

2+ years of construction, landscaping, or field crew experience

Experience operating skid steers, off-road trucks, dozers, or excavators and with equipment maintenance

Familiarity with power, farm, and landscape tools

Basic understanding of grading and site drainage principles

Able to read or learn to read project plans, elevations, and field specs

Ability to communicate clearly with field crews and supervisors

Safety-first mindset with a record of incident reporting and equipment care

What would make you stand out?

Experience working on ecological restoration, stormwater, or environmental construction projects

Familiarity with GPS equipment for grade setting

Demonstrated initiative—willingness to learn new tasks without prompting
