nJob Title: Construction Project Accountant
nJob Summary:
nThe Project Accountant is responsible for managing the financial aspects of assigned projects, ensuring accurate budgeting, cost tracking, billing, and financial reporting. This role works closely with project managers and finance leadership to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with company policies and contractual requirements.
nKey Responsibilities
n· Manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost controls from project initiation through closeout
n· Track project costs, including labor, materials, subcontractors, and overhead
n· Prepare and review project-related financial reports, variance analyses, and forecasts
n· Handle project billing, invoicing, and revenue recognition in accordance with accounting standards
n· Monitor project profitability and flag financial risks or discrepancies
n· Ensure compliance with contract terms, internal controls, and accounting policies
n· Coordinate with project managers to support financial decision-making
n· Assist with month-end and year-end close processes related to project accounting
n· Maintain accurate project records and documentation for audits and reviews
nQualifications
n· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred)
n· 5-7 years of accounting experience in project-based, construction environments
n· Strong understanding of project accounting principles and cost accounting
n· Experience with construction accounting or ERP systems
n· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools
n· Experience with percentage-of-completion accounting
n· Prior experience in a project-driven industry
