Construction Project Engineer – MEP / Buildings
Donaldsonville, LA (Ascension Parish)
Full-Time • On-Site• Direct Hire •$90,000 – $140,000+

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Help build a brand-new steel plant from the ground up, then stay on to run its buildings. A major international steel manufacturer is constructing a greenfield plant in Donaldsonville and is hiring a Construction Project Engineer to own the plant’s buildings and MEP systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical and fire protection). You’ll oversee construction from submittals through turnover, then lead maintenance of those same facilities once the plant is running. It’s a rare chance to get in on day one of a long-term project close to home, with a company committed to hiring locally in Ascension Parish.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Manage construction of plant buildings and MEP systems, including offices, control rooms, maintenance shops and warehouses
Select, supervise and manage subcontractors, and keep cost, schedule, quality and safety on track
Review drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs and change proposals for constructability and compliance
Coordinate field execution, inspections, testing, punch list, turnover documentation and warranty follow-up
Resolve field issues with engineering, operations, utilities, vendors and inspectors
After startup, lead maintenance and repair of plant buildings and develop preventive maintenance and inspection plans
WHAT YOU BRING
Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, Architectural or Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or a related field
3+ years managing building construction with hands-on MEP or HVAC experience
Experience working with subcontractors, submittals, RFIs and cost control
Strong organization, documentation and cross-team communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft 365
PREFERRED
Industrial, manufacturing or plant construction experience
Facilities or building maintenance experience
Knowledge of building codes, OSHA requirements and construction quality systems
PE, EIT, CCM or PMP
Korean-English bilingual (a plus, not required)
YOU MIGHT BE A FIT IF YOU’VE WORKED AS
A GC or owner’s-side project engineer, an MEP or HVAC contractor project manager, a construction manager on industrial or institutional buildings, or a facilities engineer who has managed new construction.

$90,000 – $140,000+ base salary, based on experience
