Job description
I’m working with a leading, established General Contractor in New York’s Capital Region that is looking to add an experienced Site Superintendent to its growing team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a senior field leader who enjoys being hands‑on and wants to take ownership of major projects with a company that self‑performs civil/sitework and concrete construction.
The initial project will be based in Watervliet, NY, with future opportunities across the Capital Region and wider Upstate New York.
You will partner closely with the Project Manager and take the lead on day‑to‑day field operations, including:
Leading site operations from mobilization through final turnover
Managing self‑performed civil, sitework and concrete operations
Developing look‑ahead schedules, crew assignments and recovery plans
Coordinating foremen, union craft employees, subcontractors and suppliers
Managing labor, equipment, materials and productivity
Overseeing excavation, grading, earthwork, utilities and concrete operations
Managing foundations, walls, slabs, formwork, reinforcing and concrete placement
Driving jobsite safety, quality control and production
Coordinating inspections, testing, deliveries, logistics and site access
Reviewing plans, specifications, schedules and field changes
Maintaining accurate project documentation through Procore
Leading the team through punch list and closeout
The ideal candidate will have:
20+ years of construction experience
10+ years as a Superintendent, General Superintendent, General Foreman or similar field leader
Strong experience in civil/sitework AND concrete construction
Experience with excavation, grading, earthwork, underground utilities and site logistics
Strong concrete experience including foundations, walls, slabs, formwork, reinforcing and placement
Experience leading union craft professionals and foremen
Strong understanding of scheduling, manpower, productivity and field costs
Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications and schedules
Procore or similar construction technology experience
Strong knowledge of OSHA and jobsite safety requirements
Experience with any of the following would be a major plus:
Water / wastewater
Institutional / public work
Commercial construction
Large excavations, shoring or major utility systems
