Consultation Liaison Psychiatrist

Hackensack Meridian Health, JFK University Medical Center, is seeking a compassionate and experienced full-time Consultation Liaison Psychiatrist to join our collaborative team in beautiful Edison, New Jersey. This is an exciting opportunity to provide vital psychiatric consultation services within a community hospital environment.
Position Overview:
The Consultation Liaison Psychiatrist will provide comprehensive psychiatric assessments and treatment recommendations to patients within the medical and surgical units of JFK University Medical Center. The psychiatrist will also evaluate patients who enter through emergency psychiatric services. They will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure the optimal care of patients with co‑occurring medical and psychiatric conditions.
Responsibilities:
Conduct psychiatric consultations for patients on medical and surgical units.
Evaluate patients who enter the emergency department for psychiatric services.
Evaluate and diagnose a wide range of psychiatric disorders in the context of medical illness.
Develop and implement treatment plans, including medication management, psychotherapy recommendations, and crisis intervention.
Provide education and support to patients, families, and medical staff regarding psychiatric illness and treatment.
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development of integrated care pathways.
Maintain accurate and timely medical records.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
Board‑certified or board‑eligible in Psychiatry.
Valid New Jersey medical license.
Experience or fellowship training in consultation‑liaison psychiatry preferred.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.

The posted rate of pay in this job posting is a reasonable good‑faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act and does not reflect the full value of our market‑competitive total rewards package.

Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in relevant skills and competencies.
Geographic Location: Cost of living and market rates for the specific location.
Internal Equity: Compensation is determined in a manner consistent with compensation ranges for similar roles within the specialty and/or sub‑specialty.
Budget and Grant Funding: Departmental budgets and any grant funding associated with the job position may impact the pay that can be offered.
In addition to our compensation for full‑time and part‑time (20+ hours/week) positions, HMH offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, tuition reimbursement, and retirement benefits.
