Full-Time | $120,000 - $140,000
Industry: Custom Machinery / Automation
We are recruiting an Controls Engineer to develop, program, and troubleshoot control systems for custom food processing and automation equipment. This hands-on role combines PLC programming, robotics integration, equipment commissioning, and customer-site technical support.
What You'll Do
Design, program, test, and debug electrical control systems for custom machinery.
Develop and modify PLC programs, HMIs, and automation applications.
Program and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, and servo systems .
Select electrical and electronic components for control systems.
Support equipment testing, startup, commissioning, and simulation.
Troubleshoot existing systems and perform root cause analysis.
Support robotics and automation applications at customer sites.
Integrate controls with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
Interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and customer specifications.
Collaborate with Engineering, Project Management, Service, Sales, and customers.
Improve equipment reliability, quality, productivity, and cost efficiency.
What We're Looking For
Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, an associate degree, or equivalent practical experience.
3+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Hands-on PLC programming and troubleshooting experience.
Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, and servo systems.
Knowledge of electrical controls, industrial automation, and control hardware/software.
Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and resolve technical issues under pressure.
Willingness to travel to customer sites for startup and commissioning.
Preferred Experience
FANUC or Stäubli robotics.
Collaborative robot programming.
CAD or SolidWorks.
Custom machinery, industrial automation, or food processing equipment.
