Job description
Control Room Operator, Chemical ManufacturingAs a Control Room Operator, Chemical Manufacturing, you will locate stock and deliver items to their destination upon request. You will ensure incoming deliveries are accurate and stocks supply room with new goods. You will take inventory and identify reorder needs for supervisor approval. You will check order forms, delivery requests, and approval forms to ensure documentation, accuracy, and deliveries. You will report to the Resin Plant Manager.ResponsibilitiesMonitor in process batches in 3 reactor systemsRecord status, charge weights, rate feed & temperature dataWork with HMI controls to process batches though the systemSystems are batch recipe controlled through GE iBatchControl system is managed with GE iFix graphics and Allen Bradley PLC'sSome activities required on the production floorInspect reactor for cleanliness and empty through sight glassDrain reflux return loopsTroubleshoot and respond to abnormal situations and device failuresCoordinate with Operators for making manual charges and pulling samplesReview batch recipes reports to determine timing of upcoming chargesIn-person meetings, telephone, and 2-way radio communicationsCoordinate with Product Finishers on pulling samples and tank transfersCoordinate with QC Lab on sample results and batch statusRecord status of batches in reactor system and batch tanks on information whiteboardsReview production status with Resin Supervisor on shift-by-shift basisQualifications1 or more years of previous experienceWork rotating scheduleHigh school diplomaSchedule12 hour shifts (Days: 5:15a-5:15p or Nights: 5:15p-5:15a)Shift change typically requires 10-30 min overlap2-2-3 Bi-weekly Continuous Operations Schedule7 days of coverage per 2 week periodThurs-Friday, Tues-Wed, Saturday-Sun-Mon8 hours bi-weekly Overtime built in to scheduleVacation/Sick time coverage requiredNon-Exempt SalaryUnscheduled coverage is 1.5 Overtime on Weekdays & SaturdaySunday unscheduled coverage is 2x OvertimePPG: WE PROTECT AND BEAUTIFY THE WORLD®Through leadership in innovation, sustainability and color, PPG helps customers in industrial, transportation, consumer products, and construction markets and aftermarkets to enhance more surfaces in more ways than does any other company.
