Position Overview
HireIQ is seeking a Controller for a confidential real estate client. You’ll oversee accounting for multiple property entities, lead the monthly close, and prepare entity-level and consolidated financial reporting for the CFO.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the accounting team, including accountants and accounts receivable and payable staff
Review journal entries, trial balances, and monthly income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
Prepare entity-level and consolidated financial statements
Oversee tenant charges, management fees, and payroll allocations across entities
Review CAM and tax reconciliations, including recovery of eligible expenses, before they are issued to tenants
Lead the annual budget process with input from property managers and leasing staff; compare budgets with prior-year results and explain variances
Review fixed asset schedules and record depreciation and amortization for assets, tenant improvements, and leasing commissions
Coordinate year-end workpapers for tax preparation, support external audits, and assist the CFO with regulatory reporting
Take on other accounting projects as needed
Qualifications
Experience leading an accounting team and reviewing its work
Strong background in real estate accounting, monthly close, and financial reporting
Familiarity with tenant billing, CAM and tax reconciliations, budgeting, and fixed asset accounting
