Job description
The mission of Correctional Managed Care is to address the healthcare needs of underserved patient populations within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) and the Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD).
nJOB SUMMARY :
nTo provide diversified administrative, clerical, and technical assistance/service within a correctional healthcare facility through electronic information systems management, medical records processing, or materials inventory/procurement activities.
nESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
nThis position may perform any of, or potentially all of, the following functions based on the specific needs of assigned area:
nAdministrative Functions:
nnnOperates personal computers to enter and assimilate data, generate reports, draft routine correspondence, and develop special administrative analyses.n
nnPerforms facility administrative support tasks including but not limited to filing, mail functions, faxing and typing correspondence.n
nnExecutes some degree of complex administrative support duties involving the exercise of independent judgment giving general directions and supervision.n
nnOperates data entry system for entry, tracking and reporting.n
nnPerforms related duties as required.n
n nMedical Record Functions:
nnnRetrieves and maintains a tracking system for all medical record charts located on the facilityn
nnReviews medical records for completeness and accuracy, and files records and forms upon completion of use.n
nnMaintains all logs, internal and external, to assure compliance with Policy and Standard Operating Procedure.n
nnPerforms related duties as required.n
n nMaterials Management Functions:
nnnReceives, stores, distributes and inventories materials including but not limited to narcotic-based medicines and medical supplies.n
nnMaintains proper inventory levels and stock records in a facility supply storeroom or warehouse.n
nnFills requisitions, work orders and supplies requests, returning expired/unused supplies to vendors for credit.n
nnMaintains facility equipment and executes work orders as necessary.n
nnPerforms related duties as required.n
n nMedically Delegated Functions:
nnnPerforms tasks delegated by physicians and supervised by RN staff.n
nnDemonstrates competency to perform basic clinic type tasks outlined in approved the Competency Based Orientation Tool.n
nnAdheres to internal controls and reporting structure established for department.n
nnPerforms related duties as required.n
n nEQUIPMENT :
nStandard office equipment.
nWORK ENVIRONMENT :
nWork environment is located within the confines of a prison, jail or juvenile detention center. Security clearance is required; pre-employment drug testing is also required.
