COO - OPS - Institutions OperationsCorrectional Sergeant II (S)Salary Range: $39,244 - $68,679This position is located at Craven Correctional Institution in Vanceboro, NC, Craven County. The prison is a Medium Custody Adult Male Felon Diagnostic Processing Center which houses 850 offenders. Employees in this class are first-line supervisors to Correctional Officer II's in the medium custody facility, increasing the custody and security coverage.Key Duties Include:Assigning lower-level custody staff to a particular area or post after inspecting each staff and determining if they are physically and mentally capable.Overseeing officer activities and performance and ensuring that the custody, security and welfare of offenders is maintained.Arranging work schedules to ensure adequate shift coverage, implementing operational procedures and ensuring rules and regulations are followed according to policy.Completing, reviewing and maintaining time reports, duty rosters, leave schedules, performance evaluations and other administrative forms.Accounting for persons and assets to ensure that all assigned equipment is operationally ready.The State of North Carolina offers a comprehensive benefits package including:Health Insurance optionsRetirement PlansNC Flex Supplemental BenefitsPaid Vacation, Sick, and Community Service LeavePaid Parental LeaveTo be considered for a Correctional Sergeant II position, ALL applicants must:Meet Criminal Justice Standards requirements (12 NCAC 09G.0302)Pass a criminal background checkProduce a negative drug screening resultSuccessfully complete medical and psychological evaluationsPossess a valid driver's licenseThe Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions.
