Job description
COO - OperationsReporting to a Correctional Housing Unit Manager I, this position is responsible for first line supervision of Correctional Officer II's at a medium custody male correctional facility. This position's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:Assigning lower level custody staff to a particular area/post and evaluating and overseeing officer activities and performance and ensuring that the custody, security, and welfare of offenders is maintained.Coordinating work schedules to ensure shift coverage, implementing operational procedures and ensuring rules and regulations are followed according to policy.Managing the facility on occasion of being the highest-ranking custody staff on the premises or the Officer-In-Charge (OIC).Ensuring the staff are fully trained and that proper conduct, actions, and procedures are being followed.Maintaining facility security through regular inspections to ensure compliance with governing regulations and standards relating to facility maintenance, health, and safety of offenders.Communicating effective instruction/direction during drills, searches, and in emergencies situations.Responding to emergency situations such as: distress codes, escapes, and transportation of offenders.Conducting and/or supervising searches of offenders, offender living areas and work areas for contraband.Investigating and taking action when appropriate regarding security issues, incidents, disputes, and complaints.Preparing, reviewing reports and completing performance evaluations on subordinate staff.Compensation and BenefitsHealth Insurance optionsRetirement PlansNCFlex Supplemental BenefitsPaid Vacation, Sick, and Community Service LeavePaid Parental LeaveSalary Range $39,244 - $68,679This is a full-time position (40 hours per week). The selected candidate may be selected to work any shift and will work weekends and holidays to ensure 24/7 staff coverage.About Warren Correctional Institution:Warren Correctional Institution is a mixed custody facility that houses minimum, medium, and close custody offenders. The current capacity of Warren CI is 850 male offenders, with most offenders being housed in medium custody. Offenders at Warren Correctional Institution may work at the Correction Enterprises Janitorial Products Plant, gaining marketable job skills and self-confidence participating in the manufacturing of soap and cleaning products.Offenders at Warren Correctional Institution may also participate in vocational training and educational courses to earn their HiSet/GED. They may also participate in the At Both Ends of the Leash (ABEL) program, which provides an opportunity for offenders to train service animals for individuals with medical diagnoses or physical disabilities.
