About the Division:
Since 1989, TTUHSCManaged Care has served as a healthcare delivery service,providing high quality, low cost healthcare to patients within theTexas Department of Criminal Justice system. We provide medical,mental health, and dental services to patients in 22 facilitiesthroughout West Texas. Managed Care emphasizes our values-basedculture in all we do.
Visa Information
TTUHSC, at its sole discretion, may initiate new H-1B I-129 visapetitions in accordance with the directive issued by GovernorAbbott. Approval from the Texas Workforce Commission is required.On a limited, case-by-case basis, the institution may also sponsoreligible individuals for change-of-status or change-of-employerpetitions for qualifying positions. TTUHSC will not pay the$100,000 fee, if applicable.
Position Description
Diagnoses and treats diseases, injuries, and malformations of teeth, gums, and related oral structures of inmate patients andemployees injured as a result of TDCJ-ID activities. Insures thatappropriate dental care is accessible and provided to the inmatepopulation in a timely fashion. Renders dental judgment regardingcare provided to inmates assigned to the unit. Works under generaldirection of the Regional Dental Director, with wide latitude toexercise initiative and independent judgment. Directly supervises2-4 dental hygienists in the unit dental services. Carries outsupervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization'spolicies and applicable laws.
Major/Essential Functions
Directly supervises dental staff and provides dentalservices.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include providing chairside dental care,training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work; assistin appraising performance; encouraging dental staff, addressingcomplaints and resolving problems.
Travel may be required to perform chairside dentistry at otherunits as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Current license to practice dentistry by the Texas State Board ofMedical Examiners required. Current Drug Enforcement Agencycontrolled substances registration certificate required.
Preferred Qualifications
One year of experience preferred, but not required.
