Job description
The Nurse Practitioner in the correctional setting provides health care services to incarcerated individuals within the scope of their license. The Nurse Practitioner performs physical examinations, diagnostic testing, assessments/health screenings, prescribes medications, and educates inmates on health prevention/promotion, medical conditions, and treatment.
nMinimum Requirements:
nnnCurrent Nurse Practitioner Certification and license in the state of practice required

nnCertification as a Nurse Practitioner by a nationally accredited nursing organization (e.g. American Academy of Nurse Practitioners - AANP, American Nurses Credentialing Center - ANCC) is preferred
n
nnSpecialty Certification as per client request and or state regulations if applicable
n
nnOne year experience as an NP preferred
n
nnOne year of correctional experience preferred
n
nnMaintain collaboration agreements, per state requirements
n
nnComplies with all relevant professional standards of practice
n
nnCurrent CPR if applicable
n
nnTB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
n
nnCurrent Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
n
nnMust meet all federal, state and local requirements
n
nnMust be at least 18 years of age
