Your work will involve maintaining the security and welfare of jail inmates, supervising daily activities, and working closely with other law enforcement professionals. You'll need to understand and respect the cultures, languages, disabilities, and socio-economic situations of those you interact with. To be successful, you should be comfortable with assuring the security and welfare of jail inmates, supervising, observing, moving, escorting, and securing inmates during daily activities, performing duties such as fingerprinting, initial custody taking, and inmate booking and release, operating a control room, and monitoring closed-circuit television cameras and emergency monitors.
