Corrections Technician
The City of Wentzville is seeking candidates interested in joining our Law Enforcement team. Wentzville is one of the fastest-growing communities in the state. Come grow with us! The Corrections Technician is responsible for processing and caring for inmates housed in the Wentzville Police Jail. This role requires a strong commitment to professionalism, respect, and adherence to departmental policies.
Key Responsibilities:
Inmate Processing: Book inmates, take pictures and fingerprints, and arrange vehicle releases.
Inmate Care: Schedule showers and meals, administer medications, and purchase supplies.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with all city, department, and division policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
Professionalism: Maintain a positive and productive environment, treating all inmates with respect and professionalism

Job Qualifications Education, experience, and training that are required or desirable in order to effectively perform the job at the time of hire. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered. Additional requirements and/or substitutions may be requested and require the approval of HR.
Associate or Technical degree required.
High school diploma along with related professional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
A minimum of two years of relevant experience preferred.
MULES Certification preferred, or ability to obtain within 180 days of employment required.
Minimum 18 years of age.
Must pass a comprehensive background investigation.

Knowledge of general medical conditions and first aid response.
Proficiency in use of basic business software (word processing, spreadsheets, email, presentations) and basic office equipment.
Ability to provide exceptional service to internal and external customers. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with supervisors, co-workers, and customers by telephone, in writing and in person.
Ability to use good judgment and think quickly and rationally in difficult or stressful situations.
Ability to effectively organize and prioritize routine and robust tasks to meet deadlines.
Ability to concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously.
Ability to work independently under moderate supervision and make responsible decisions.
Ability to work under established processes and solve problems within defined parameters.
Proficiency in the use of basic business software (word processing, spreadsheets, email, presentations) and basic office equipment.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Regular attendance is a necessary and essential job duty. Job requires being reliable, responsible and dependable.
