Cost Accountant | Brunswick, GA
Location: Brunswick, GA 31520
Schedule: 100% onsite, Monday–Friday
Salary: $90,000–$110,000
We are seeking a Cost Accountant to join a growing manufacturing organization in Brunswick, GA. This is a hands-on role supporting plant operations with a strong focus on standard costing, inventory, production variances, and operational financial analysis .
This position will work closely with Finance, Operations, and Supply Chain to ensure accurate product costing, inventory valuation, and production reporting while identifying opportunities to improve cost controls and operational performance.
What You'll Do
Maintain and update standard costs for raw materials, labor, and overhead.
Prepare standard and pro forma costs for new and existing products.
Analyze material, labor, overhead, and production variances.
Review production work orders for accuracy and investigate material and cost variances.
Support monthly close activities, including inventory and production reconciliations and related journal entries.
Ensure accurate inventory valuation and cost variance reporting.
Analyze historical product costs and recommend updates to cost standards when needed.
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly manufacturing cost, inventory, and production reports.
Support perpetual inventory accuracy and cycle-count procedures.
Perform margin, cost, and ad hoc financial analysis to support management decisions.
Partner with plant operations, supply chain, and finance on costing and process improvements.
Support audits and maintain strong accounting controls.
What We're Looking For
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
3–4+ years of cost accounting or operations finance experience.
Manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of standard costing methodologies.
Experience with inventory and production accounting.
Working knowledge of ERP systems.
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to clearly explain cost and production variances.
Comfortable partnering directly with plant and operations teams.
Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
Experience with the following would be especially valuable:
Standard costing.
Material, labor, and overhead variances.
Inventory valuation.
Production/work orders.
Cycle counts and perpetual inventory.
Manufacturing or plant accounting.
Month-end close and journal entries.
Margin analysis.
ERP systems.
Advanced Excel.
