Our client is a medium sized manufacturer located in Northern, NJ and they are looking for a Cost Accountant to become a member of their team. The Cost Accountant will report to the Controller and will be a key member of the Accounting/Finance team. Company offers outstanding work/life balance and competitive salary.
Responsibilities:
Perform inventory valuation and cost of goods sold calculations
Has strong experience with Close activities, including General Ledger, Profit / Loss, Balance Sheet
Maintain best practices and internal controls over cost of goods sold calculations and inventory accounting
Plan, study and collect data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor
Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided to determine effects on costs
Analyze actual manufacturing costs and prepare periodic report comparing standard costs to actual production costs
Prepare a report on margins by product and division
Record cost information for use in controlling expenditures
Analyze audits of costs and prepares reports
Compile cost information to be used in operating budget preparation
Construct data accumulation systems for a cost accounting system
Accumulate and apply overhead costs as required by generally accepted accounting principles
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
CPA or CMA is a plus
Must have 5+ years of progressive responsibility over inventory and/or cost accounting
