Job description
Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)Provides skilled support services under supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT). Implements OT-designed treatment plans to help residents regain independence in daily activities and improve functional performance. Assists with resident evaluations and documentation of progress. Delivers direct therapy services in a compassionate, safe, and effective manner. Monitors and documents residents’ responses, reporting concerns to the OT. Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings and communicates resident updates. Educates residents and caregivers on therapeutic exercises and safety techniques. Maintains accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record system. Ensures proper use and maintenance of adaptive equipment and assistive devices. Follows facility policies, CMS guidelines, and professional standards. Upholds ethical and professional conduct per state licensure and certification requirements. Typically works in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) or long-term care setting with an interdisciplinary team. May require physical activity such as standing, lifting, and transferring residents.
